A NEW CEO AT THE HELM OF BVV TRADE FAIRS BRNO

The selection committee consisting of shareholder representatives, i.e. members of the statutory city council of Brno, members of the board of directors of the Veletrhy Brno joint-stock company and a representative of the company's trade union finished the selection process on Friday 28 July 2023 to fill the position of the company's general director.
Mr. Jan Kubata, who asserted himself in the competition of three dozen applicants, has become the new CEO. When making their decision, the commission considered Kubata’s visions, opinions and attitudes with regards to the company’s next five years. Mr. Jan Kubata will lead the company Veletrhy Brno, a.s., from 1st October 2023.
Jan Kubata was born in 1967 in Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad). He completed his university studies at the University of J.E. Purkyně in Ústí nad Labem. Since 2014, he has been employed at the trade promotion agency CzechTrade, initially as director of the agency's foreign office in the United States, specifically in Chicago. He currently works as the director of the CzechTrade foreign network, whose mission is to support Czech companies in doing business abroad, including trade fairs participations and foreign trade assistance.
In his earlier professional career, he was both an employee and an entrepreneur. In 2002 he became a city representative in Ústí nad Labem and later in 2006 its mayor. Jan Kubata also worked in other capacities as a public figure, including Deputy Minister of Justice, a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic and its Committee for European Affairs, the Economic Committee and was the head of the permanent delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
Jan Kubata is married and has two children.
